Zoya Kelly

Here is Zoya Kelly. She's a beautiful deep color somewhere in the purple family. The best way to describe it is maybe a dark heather lavender??? I dunno but any who it is a nice shade. Take a look see.

Fresh Greens

Here are some green polishes worth mentioning.
 Essie in Sew Psyched

NYC New York Color Minute Quick Dry in Flat Iron Green. Nice deep green..love it ;)

And last but not least Zoya's Veruschka. This is a matte polish. I wanted to do a French so I used some left over painter's tape to separate the two colors. The reason why I taped the top portion of my nail off is because matte polishes are supposed to go on a bare nail and the bottom is covered with a clear top coat. I finished it off with a multi glitter stripe across the nail to tidy up the dividing line. Mattes don't have the same longevity as traditional polishes. For one no base or top coat coat is recommended. You can however use a top coat for a glossy finish if matte isn't your thing.

Attention All NFL Fans..Show Your Team Spirit on Your Nails

Available now at Dick's Sporting Goods, KE Specialities nail polishes. Each officially licensed set includes two bottles of NFL team-colored nail polish. They go for $14.99.

I like the concept but I'm sure I already have all these team colors.

What would have made these sets stand out is maybe some team decals or stencils for the nails. But it's all about team spirit right!

Gooooo Giants, J-E-T-S and..Raiders too (that's my hubby's team)!

Avon Inspired Crackle Nails

Even Avon has a crackle polish! But I think one crackle in any one color is enough. Since I already had my OPI black shatter polish I decided to use that instead. The Avon colors Blue Lagoon, Sunshine and Tangtastic I already had in my collection.

When I saw this is their catalog I thought the nails looked really hot and when I realized I had the colors it was on. First I started with my China Glaze adhesion basecoat and proceeded to make wide, somewhat horizontal stripes across my nails. I didn't want the coats to be too thick so I went over it about 2x. Don't worry about neatness it will all be covered by the shatter polish. Once the stripes dried a bit I added the shatter polish in a vertical sweep. Then I applied my OPI topcoat and my Seche Vite dry fast.

So here is how my nails turned out:

Sula Paint and Peel Nail polish..Ehhhh

I purchased Sula Paint and Peel polish from Ulta and it sells for about $9. I tried the color Dove. This has got to be one of the least favorite polishes I have ever tried. It definitely is not one that fits within my lifestyle. It's a water based polish and the whole concept here is to be able to take the polish off without having to use a polish remover.
There were 3 easy steps printed on the outer package. I like trying new polishes so I said great. Now when I got home and unpacked the polish this is where I saw the "other" set of directions.
  • Wear it for a day or two...Say what!
  • Apply new layers of top coat daily....ummm really???
  • Keep it short, short nails=less chips...No dice here Sula.
  • and here is the kicker..Avoid hot water for 4 hours following application and protect nails until they are completely dry following a bath or shower. I don't have 4 hours to worry about my nail polish coming off. The outer package just says wait 10 minutes to dry. What's up?
Well I do a lot with my hands so it seems as though this concept polish is not for me :( . This is the first water based polish I have tried so I don't know if they all behave this way. I'm just upset that I paid $9 for something that I could not keep looking good on my nails for more than 24 hours. Yes it started smudging and peeling later in the day.

Payless is Not Just For Shoes...Checkout Brash!

Trying all polishes is what I strive to do and it's really nice when you stumble upon something new and really take a liking to it. I have tried the other polishes from Payless and this line is their latest edition. Meet Brash, the edgy trendy brand line offered by Payless Shoes. I think the brand is supposed to have a chic rock appeal.

So I had a coupon of course.. that's how the Budget Nailnista does it, and bought the Brash nail polish in Toxic Purple. I love it! The color was rich and the polish LASTS. Only $2.99. I'm not one who is light on my hands so that's saying a lot.

There are 13 shades in the collection, 2 nail art shades and two glitter top coat colors. Brash also has fragrances and face makeup. Check it out here See Brash Here

So here it is.

Chocolate Mint Nails

I wanted to try the paper reinforcement method on my nails creating the half moon effect. I think it turned out quite good. After adding the first coat of Avon's Jade polish I let it completely dry. If you don't let the first coat dry completely, the adhesive from the reinforcements will lift the polish right off.

I cut the reinforcements in half and placed one half on each nail and filled in one side of my nail with the second color, which was Orly Prince Charming. If I hadn't been on vacation I would of had more pictures. :(

I topped it off with my Orly top coat and my staple Seche Vite dry fast.

LA Splash Flamingo Style

Forgive me as I digress. Staring down at my very pink nails all I can think of are pink flamingos. And then the random useless knowledge kicked in. I remembered the original creators of those plastic pink lawn ornaments stopped production a few years back. Yeah so on to nail talk....

Well at least my nails turned out to be more esthetically pleasing than the flamingos (well at least to me).

I used the LA Splash polish in Sparkling Jellyfish and designed some nail art streaks with LA Colors Art Deco in Baby Pink and Jordana Pop Art in a neon pink #521. The exact color is not on the bottle.

American Apparel - Mount Royal (Ouu La La)

A few weeks back I went to get a complimentary cut thanks to the great people over at Ouidad. Well the location of this event just happened to be above a Sephora and Essentials plus and across from American Apparel. Had I died and gone to HBA heaven???

Well needless to say after my cut I hit all stores. Since I had been wanting to try American Apparel polishes I bought 3. They were like 3 for $15 if memory serves me right. I'm wearing #36505 in Mount Royal. What an awesome blue! I used 2 coats and it kept very well for the week without any touch ups. WOW. I may be back for more.

Pixel and SH Hidden Treasure

Pixel is a new polish I found at my Ulta store. It was only a buck 99 and the quality was pretty good. It lasted a good 5 days with the average wear and no chipping. I probably could have worn it longer with my 3rd day re-application but I top coated with Sally Hansen's Hidden Treasure (flakey goodness!).

My only gripe is that I chose a color which does nothing for my hand. This is Sizzel In #213. It just seems to blend into my skin tone. BOOOO...oh well its still a nice polish.

The pic with thew Sally Hansen are no so good I apologize. It was kind of hard to capture the true reflective affect this polish gives.

China Glaze Purple Crackle Over Lime Green

I've been slacking on the Crackin' (eh hem Crackle). With so many more varieties out there I just have not been keeping up. Here I have on Essence Colour & Go in Lime Up. I polished China Glaze Fault Line Crackle over it and whoop there it is! I wished I had sported the lime alone for a day or two I was really feeling this color.

Jordana Boy Oh Boy

I really like his Jordana shade. This is Jordana in Boy Oh Boy. It's a beautiful creamy teal. The art work was inspired by The Daily Nail. She does such great art on her nails it's ridiculous. My version is not as detailed but I like it just the same.

I used the detailing brush seen below to box out the nail:

And here are my nails!

Revlon Scented -Pretty in Papaya

Believe it or not this is my first Revlon "try on". This is a scented polish named Pretty in Papaya. I'm surprised at how long the scent from the polish lasted. I washed my hands and everything. The next day I could still smell the scent lingering.

Overall I am quite pleased. I wore the polish for 7 days and went without my usual 3rd day touch up. This shade is Pretty in Papaya.

What do you think?

Sally Hansen Mellow Yellow

I mentioned before that yellow nails were not one of my favorite but I still like trying all shades regardless. Well this yellow was a hit. It was bright and creamy. I really enjoyed wearing this one. This is Sally Hansen's Mellow Yellow.

I must say that my polish wearing days have come a long way. Gone are the days when I used to go into my Mom's polish stash to only get my hands on red polish. I wasn't even allowed to wear red until I was about 13. That left me with clear and those kiddie nail stains. But look at me now..watch out polish world :)
My little polish diva has lots to choose from for sure.

Color Menagerie

I felt like some nail art this time. These colors shout vibrancy. Spring is here!

What I did:
I used the white polish for my base color and colored the edges at an angle with the yellow polish, then pink then the teal and then a glitter on top. I added some dotting with my dotting tool on the pointer and thumbs.

I then sealed the deal with my Orly topcoat and Seche Vite speed dry.

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Mellow Yellow
NIK in Cotton Candy
Avalon in French Blizzard

Ahhhh Gleek Out!

Got Green?  This is one of OPI's polishes from their nail polish collection sold exclusively at Sephora (sidebar..I heart Sephora) in Gleek Out green. A sheer shimmery green. Once I added the stickers it looked like a botanical garden. Well at least to me it did, lol. When collections come out like this I like buying the mini polishes. This way I can sample a collection without breaking the bank.

I used 2 coats of the color, my OPI topcoat and my staple Seche Vite quick dry topcoat.
